Book 2 New Release The Day the Lights Went Out.
1. What is the mission statement or “essence statement” for your book? In one or two sentences, state the central or special point:
You may feel as if you have been “grounded” from being effective in life due to a disability, poverty, or other circumstance that feels insurmountable. God may simply be changing your direction so you can walk the path and fulfill the plan He has for you rather than your own.
2. What do you hope readers will gain from reading your book—what takeaway do you hope they get? Why?
My hope is that readers will understand that when they are challenged by life, it is not the end of the world. It is simply a test of one’s true grit. If I can overcome the major obstacle that blindness can be, my readers can survive and thrive through whatever challenges they face.
3. What is the single most important thing we can say about your book?
The Word of God is powerful enough to change any person so that person can change the world.
4. In what way do you feel you or your book is newsworthy?
There is a difference between dealing with the emotions of a sudden life change, such as losing an ability in an accident, and an impending life change, such as learning you will eventually lose all your vision. I believe this book is an encouragement for those in the latter situation to run their race and fight their fight without losing hope.
5. Please provide a brief author biography as well as any expertise you bring to the opinions/ideas expressed in your book? What establishes you as an authority in this area?
Book 1: I'm Blind What's Your Excuse
Life can throw many unexpected curve balls our way which affect our outlook on our ability to serve God. God doesn’t want us to just survive our personal tragedies, He wants us to thrive under His personal care and direction.
Ron Lester had the odds stacked against him. From a very young age he found himself working to help his family survive some very lean times. Because of dyslexia, he had a difficult time learning in school. Later, he found out the reason some things were so difficult for him was that he was gradually going blind. Despite all the obstacles in the way, Ron was able to surrender to God’s plans for his life. He went from a farm boy who could barely read to a full-time pastor, eventually earning his doctorate.
This is the story of how God directed Ron’s steps through many difficult circumstances, showing that the impossible is possible with God’s provision and power in our lives.
Dr. Lester is a true inspiration to anyone that feel they cannot do what God has called them to do just because they have some kind of disability. God will make a way, as long as they are willing. Dr. Lester is an Associate Pastor in Tucson, AZ. He and his wife, Betty, have 2 boys and 8 grandchildren.
Dr. Ron Lester has worn many hats throughout his lifetime as a minister and educator in Oklahoma, California, Arizona, and outside the United States. His life story is a labor of love by which he hopes to encourage readers to fulfill their purposes, no matter the obstacles they face.
